NCC Zonal Cultural Centres
The Seven Zonal Cultural Centres functioning as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, were set up during 1985 to 1986 with the objective to preserve, innovate and promote the projections and dissemination of arts of the zone falling under the broad disciplines of Sangeet, Natak, Lalit Kala dnd Sahitya so as to develop and promote the rich diversity and uniqueness of various arts of the zone and to upgrade and enrich consciousness of the people about their cultural heritage. Special efforts are made to encourage folk and tribal arts and to preserve and strengthen the vanishing art forms

| ZCCs have been instrumental in providing a very strong infrastructure to the artists and more so to the folk artists to showcase their talents in the direction of preservation, promotion and dissemination of Indian art and culture in its entire spectrum. There are regular theatre shows, art exhibitions, handicraft fairs, performances of dance and music and also documentation and publication works which is being undertaken on regular basis by these centres. The centres have enormous data base of folk art forms which are being published also from time to time. The centres are also rendering important services in the implementation of centrally sponsored scheme of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and are working as field agency of the Ministry of Culture. | ||
